Student Support
At On Demand Training we want to ensure that all learners are supported holistically.
We use Te Whare Tapa Whā model to help us understand and support holistic student wellbeing.
Te Whare Tapa Whā
Te Whare Tapa Whā helps you think about all aspects of your life:
Taha wairua - Spiritual
Taha hinengaro - Mental & emotional
Taha tinana - Physical
Taha whānau - Family & Social
If one aspect of your life is ‘off’ it sometimes affects other aspects of your life. Please see below if you need support in any of these areas.
Self Care
Sleep
It is important that you get sufficient and quality sleep. To improve your sleep quantity and quality, check out the Ministry of Health Sleep Tips for adults.
Food
Eating a balanced diet can positively influence your emotional and physical wellbeing.
For adults, see The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation - Adults to ensure you are getting a balanced diet.
For teenagers, see The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation - Young People to ensure you are getting a balanced diet.
Hydration
Drinking enough water is important to help manage fatigue, increase concentration and allow the body to function properly. Check if you are getting enough water here.
Exercise
Exercise is important for your body and your mind. See The New Zealand Nutrition Foundation - Physical Activity for ideas on how to add more exercise into your lifestyle.
Relaxation
Everyone needs a little bit of down time to rest the mind and body. Everyone relaxes in different ways. Watch this video to get some ideas for what might work for you.
